Equal Adventure operates from our manufacturing unit from Grantown-on-Spey in the Scottish Highlands. We design and produce a range of products with the aim of inspiring and resourcing people to engage in active lifestyles in the outdoors. In 2016, with the support of the original design engineer team at Molten Rock, Equal Adventure became the manufacturer and supplier of the Boma all terrain wheelchair. Following an internal design review in 2019 we proudly launched the latest product in our Mobility & Movement range the Boma 7.5.
With significant improvements in battery life, a new modular electric system, re-engineered suspension and flexible finance, maintenance and servicing packages for existing and new owners the Boma 7.5 opens up the lanes, tracks, trails and shores of our beautiful countryside. Now joining the family for a stroll, grabbing a view from the top of a mountain or simply walking the dog is more accessible and affordable than ever.
Comfort
We can’t emphasize enough how important comfort is. Athletes consider ‘performance’ in terms of
potential and interference. Interference reduces potential and reduced potential ultimately equals reduced performance. You don’t need to be an athlete to understand how discomfort caused from poor posture, being wet, getting cold or getting aches and pains can interfere with your performance whether you measure it in distance travelled, time out or simply enjoyment.
Using a Boma may place you in environments you’re not used to or in situations you might actively avoid as youknow they have previously been uncomfortable. We encourage you to adopt a questioning base-up (feet to head)approach and compare what you have done and currently use with what you might need when using a Boma.
The Boma comes with a number of built in features as standard and there are a range of products that support you to get out, stay and out and enjoy your rides as part of a regular active lifestyle. These include:
Foot rest (standard)
The Zebra Adjustable Foot Rest and Leg Support System supports the feet and provides a waterproof base preventing trail debris from accumulating in the riders seat.
Optional extras: Stump Angels, Leg positioning straps, Flamingo heel pads, K9 foot pad, Cosy legs
Seating (standard)
The J2 Seat Cushion giving a smooth and comfortable padded seat to ride on.
Arm support
Highly adjustable and removable arm rest system that can be used symmetrically or asymmetrically.
Lateral support
The lateral support is a piece of fabric on either side of the seat that keeps your cushion in position and prevents dirt from the environment hitting the side of the rider’s bottom.
Postural support
An adjustable seating and positioning harness Mounted in four points, behind each shoulder and at each side of the torso with neoprene padding across the chest.
Note: It does not have a specific standard in relation to use on a Boma, only a seating and positioning standard.
Power
Riding a Boma should be a year-round experience; allowing you to enjoy the great outdoors in all seasons. The Boma’s (insert technical spec for motor) motor powered by (insert technical spec for batteries) rechargeable battery system provide miles of effortless travelling.
Maintaining batteries to provide peak performance is easy with on or off unit charging. On fully charged batteries we expect a Boma to provide ……..(insert range).
The Boma has a maximum speed of 8mph although riding on public footpaths requires the Walk setting to beengaged restricting speeds to 4mph.
On the Road
Thanks to the fantastic battery range of the Boma 7.5, many riders set off from home, getting to trails along public highways and riding along roads and lanes is possible once fitted with the Class III Compliance Kit, insured (minimum third party) and registered with the DVLA.
In addition, the Boma 7.5 can be safely transported in the back of most estate cars, 4x4s, MPVs, WAVs (Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle) by either dis-assembling or rolled in using light weight aluminium folding ramps.
